For once we had a very quick run on the M25 and arrived earlier than expected. The church was early 17th century, built on earlier foundations and much of it had received a Victorian make-over. It was very large and grand, but on that evening not very warm and most of us were glad of the hot mulled wine served in the interval. The church had a reasonable acoustic, so that even though we were low in numbers, we gave a good account of ourselves. The offerings of both choirs were warmly applauded by the large audience.
After the concert, we all enjoyed a substantial buffet supper laid on by Three Valleys, before climbing back on the coach and heading home. The return journey took much longer with delays due to a serious accident and the millions of traffic cones that had mushroomed along our route since the afternoon. It was along way to go for a concert, but the evening was very pleasant and we all got to bed before 3am!
The choir has just started to rehearse a
piece of music
which is completely different from our usual repertoire.
It is a cantata entitled 'Saints in Canterbury' which has
been composed by our talented conductor, Michael Lewis.
This new work will be performed for the first time on
November 22nd, 2008, which is St. Cecilia's Day, (the
Patron Saint of music).
The performance, at Dover Town Hall, will feature
Snowdown MVC and Dover Choral Society together
with soloists and a wind orchestra.

The Paul Rogers Memorial Fund.
A Memorial Fund has been set up in Paul's name using
donations made by his family and friends, matched by a
donation from the choir.
It is intended that money from the fund will be used to
award small annual bursaries to promote Paul's interests
in the playing of 'Tag-Rugby' in Primary schools and
music for our more senior citizens.
It is anticipated that the award of these bursaries will
begin early in 2008.
Donations to the fund can be made through the choir
at one of the addresses given in this website.
